ZMDC Chronicles: Imported from Hong Kong! Made by Da Joint! In the year 2037, a catastrophic shower of iron-based meteors rains down on the Earth. The meteors effectively destroy all major urban areas, wipe out most of the world population and reduce civilization to basic survival. Years later, some surviving scientists discover a major find inside the enormous crater on what remains of Hong Kong Island- a large meteorite, floating in the air, unaffected by the Earth's gravitational pull. After careful study, the scientists determine that the meteor's anti-gravitational properties were caused by a total realignment of its atomic structure upon atmospheric entry and impact. The scientists quickly name the newly-discovered matter "Zero Metal."
Thirty years later, Hong Kong Island has fully mastered the use of this new technology and has become the unparalleled military power in the region. Renaming the island "Gang Dao", Hong Kong Island declares itself an independent state and develops highly mobilized armor units- ZMDCs- to enforce their sovereignty and security.
Across the remains of Victoria Harbor, Kowloon is angry and fearful. The unorganized civilian population of the Kowloon Peninsula attempts to unify and resist the advancing troops of Gang Dao, a belligerent power with superior military might. Meanwhile, the Lunnies-a mysterious band of moon colonists-turned-pirates- join the battle against Gang Dao while searching for a vast treasure hidden by one of their former compatriots.
Hairy Rouge, who prefers bladed weapons to guns, includes two huge axes, which are 10" long! Each axe can be taken apart in the middle and can be attached to the figure's engine backpack. The Hairy Rouge figure also includes an armored gauntlet, which fits onto his left arm and holds his massive sword. The sword attaches to the gauntlet and hangs with the hilt pointing down. The sword is 5" long and 1" wide, making it extremely heavy! Hairy Rouge's hair, beard, and eyes are painted perfectly and feature no slop whatsoever.
The KUSA figures, like the ZMDC figures, are MASSIVE! Each package is approximately 11" wide, 8" deep, and 14" high. Again, like the ZMDC figure, the KUSA figure and his armor are packaged separately inside the main box. The front of the box features a large 'color outline' of the KUSA figure in full armor. A smaller, color picture of the figure and the figure's name appear in the lower right corner of the box's front. The Chinese kanji lettering for "ZMDC" run horizontally from bottom to top on the left side of the package front along with the figure series' name: "ZM Chronicle: KUSA." The outside of the package also features information about the figures (from the ZM Chronicle comic book) and information about the ZM Chronicle story in general.
Each KUSA warrior has an original head sculpt. Hairy Rouge features a 'samurai' type look: red hair in a top-knot, a red beard, and a calm and ready gaze upon his face. Master Nova's face is more 'robotic' in nature; a sealed left eye and a right eye held wide-open by a mechanical head gear of some type. Both figures' heads are amazingly detailed and fit the characters' personalities and names well.
Like the ZMDC figure's armor, the KUSA's armor is made up of separate, individual pieces, making it more realistic and attractive. Each KUSA figure is first clothed in a large, scuba-material body suit. The figure also wears a vest (made of scuba-material) over the top of the suit. Over the vest, a flexible plastic 'armor' is worn, to which the heavy shoulder armor is attached. The heavy shoulder armor is placed over the figure's head and the backpack (which is some type of engine) holds the figure's weapons in two positions: the down and "ready" position or the up and "engaged" position. The sculpted backpack engine is a maze of radiators, hoses, coils, and cylinders making it look extremely realistic. The heavy chest armor is hung on a wide clip located on the chest piece of the shoulder armor. The heavy chest armor features a beautiful facial relief of an "immortal animal," which grants the KUSA warrior (according to the ZM Chronicle story) "protection during battle." The sheer amount of detail on the figure's armor is incredible. The futuristic look of the traditional samurai armor makes the design attractive in a 'neo-traditional' sense. These figures are a mecha/ sci-fi fan's dream come true...
